I'm 55 years old and this was the first election I ever fully participated in. By that I mean that I believed this man was going to change the country. I believed so strongly that I donated money and time, I campaigned for Obama, I sent monthly contributions I could ill-afford. I drove many hours in the dark one morning to take our daughter to St. Louis to be a part of one of the largest political rallies in the country's history, where we stood in line for hours to stand in a crowd and stare at people's backs just to catch a glimpse of Barack Obama and cheer him to victory. I wept like a baby on election night. It was going to be a new day in our country.

I love the Obama's as a couple in the White House. They did a bang-up job turning throwing a Halloween Party there. They're cute as a button and he looks very presidential. The world loves them.

Big fucking deal. I'm farther away from gaining my civil rights today than I was under Bush. I've been thrown under so many buses I've got tire tracks. I'll join you in the Big Meh.

Not another dime. It was a mistake to get so involved in this man's election. I won't make the mistake of putting my eggs in anyone else's basket. Way to go, Obama ... that's change I can believe in ... the one where I never believe in this country again. Excellent work.

Thank you for the reportage. The boa looks fetching, the signs are great, and I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments. We listened to Obama's speech and came away from it with what seemed to be a pretty thin message ... hang in there, your mothers love you. Well, fuck you, Mr. President. My mother is dead, and I can't marry my life partner or leave her my social security benefits or share a health insurance policy with her, no matter HOW much I love her. What he should have said is, "I'm going to my office right now and sign an executive order to rescind DADT. When you wake up in the morning it will be gone." That's how we got the damn thing in the first place and that's how easy it would be to get rid of it. Thank you for carrying our voices with you to Washington, guys ... we love you almost as much as your mothers.

Well... It's at the top of my personal list.

Healthcare is pretty meaningless if we can't share it. If either of us are banned from survivorship benefits, one of us dies and the other has to go through probate to inherit our home... We can still be kicked out of a hospital room.

The President could put a moratorium on discharges right this very minute (and he doesn't write that stuff, his aides do) and then allow congress to pass the legislation at their leisure.

He has chosen not to do anything at all.

As far as healthcare reform goes, the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies and the for-profit medical services have already won. Any healthcare reform that is initiated is going to be reasonably worthless at this point. The Democrats don't have the balls to do the right thing because they're getting paid off just as much as the Republicans. They have also allowed the right-wing fanatics to control the debate.

I'm pretty disgusted with the whole political system right now, so we will be heading to Washington on October 10th and 11th to voice our displeasure in person.

And if they do not end DADT and DoMA before the 2012 elections, I will NOT vote for any one of them. I'm tired of being used as a political pawn.

While supporting this initiative I wonder if the timing is right - of all the priorities on my personal list, healthcare reform is #1.

I'm wondering if there aren't too many pots on the fire all at once.

The recent incident of Governor Sanford’s foreign affair is an absolute gift from Baby Jesus for the LGBT community under the current battle that we face.
Time is of the essence for the LGBT community. All of these governors and senators have built their political platform by selling Christianity and family values and we should use those who have voted to keep marriage away from us. Their excuse, “ I just realized that I’m human”, “I felt into temptation”.
They are the perfect examples for our cause, these are the same guys who have selectively choosen to discriminate us. But we’re not using them as examples to educate the public about the big hypocrisy under which they were elected. But most importantly, they have there “right” to remarry if they choose to after the fact.
This is a gift from baby Jesus, we need a campaign or commercial highlighting each of these officials(gifts).
The other gift given to us by Baby Jesus is the Jon& Kate Plus 8. Here we have a married couple with 8 kids getting divorced. Nonetheless, they have the ‘right” to turn around and get remarried if they choose to, but we can’t. And I have no sympathy using them for our cause, they became super rich selling their family values bs.
Again, time is of the essence, thank you Baby Jesus for giving the LGBT community material that’s real and not fiction, the momentum is already in the media, let’s run with it and make it our own.

And to answer your question :) yes, my partner Steve and I are going to DC as well, it's nice to see people are getting involved. We're coming from Sacramento CA
